Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has again insisted he’s happy with Simon Mignolet despite persistent rumours of interest in other goalkeepers.
The Reds have been linked with several goalkeepers since Klopp took charge at Anfield with Mainz’s Loris Karius, Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno and Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Barcelona among the many names mentioned.
Mignolet boasts the most clean sheets of 2015 in the Premier League with 16, ahead of Joe Hart (15), David de Gea (12) and Petr Cech (11).
And Klopp admits he is sick of the rumours surrounding speculation over the club’s hunt for another shot-stopper.
“Other people in the club will announce things like this,” the German boss said. “I’ve not got anything on this at the moment if nobody has said anything.
“I’m really satisfied with Simon. I can only say this and some of you the next day will write about 500 goalkeepers across the world who we’re supposed to be interested in.”
Klopp also praised goalkeeping coach John Achterberg for his work with the first-team amid criticism from some of the Liverpool faithful.
“I’m fine with our goalies and I really trust in John Achterberg because he does a brilliant job here,” Klopp added.
“He’s one of the hardest-working people I’ve ever met, he works as a coach 25 hours a day.
“It’s good to work together with these guys and everything is ok. There is no player in the world who doesn’t have faults, that’s because of the game and a lot of situations in the game but you need the right skills and the readiness for getting better and that’s what we have at the moment.”
