Klopp: I cannot say too much about Markovic loan

Jurgen Klopp opted not to criticise the decision to send Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic out on loan earlier in the season.

Markovic joined Turkish club Fenerbahce until the end of the season in August, with Liverpool then under the management of Brendan Rodgers.

The Serbian has no goals in 11 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, while has scored once in two Europa League appearances this season.

With Liverpool currently struggling with injuries, many feel the 21-year-old winger would be a useful addition to the squad, but there is no recall clause in the deal. Only Fenerbahce can cancel the loan.

When asked whether or not he would have loaned out Markovic at the start of the season, Klopp said: “It would be too easy to say ‘no, I would not have done things like this and given him out on loan’.

“But I was not in the situation so I cannot say too much about this.

“There would have been good reasons for this. I don’t think we can take him back.”
