Klopp: I’d love Gerrard to come back to Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Steven Gerrard is “always welcome” at the club after the midfielder posted a possible farewell message to the Los Angeles Galaxy online.

Gerrard’s contract with the Californian franchise will end after the current Major League Soccer season – in which the Galaxy are bound for the play-offs.

A message on the 36-year-old’s official Instagram account, posted ahead of the Galaxy’s fan appreciation night on Saturday, said:

“Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege.

“You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you #8”

However, it is worth pointing out that this weekend is ‘fan appreciation weekend’ in MLS.

Klopp was asked about that in his post-match press conference following Liverpool’s 2-1 Premier League win over West Brom at Anfield.

“Steven Gerrard is always so welcome at Liverpool FC,” Klopp said.

“You cannot imagine how welcome. So, absolutely no problem.

“But everything that we have already or will speak to each other stays in this talk.

“That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. But nobody should worry that we have no space for Steven Gerrard. No – everything will be fine, 100 per cent.”
