Klopp: If Liverpool sacked me, who would do the job better?

Jurgen Klopp has defended his first two years in charge at Liverpool, implying that no manager could do much better.

Klopp’s two-year anniversary of becoming Liverpool boss passed in the international week, with the Reds having struggled for form recently.

They face Manchester United on Saturday having won just one of their last seven games, and he is under immense pressure in our game to watch.

Some have questioned whether Liverpool could improve without the German at the helm, but Klopp doubts it.

“We had to improve to get into the situation we’re in,” he said.

“If they sacked me now I don’t think a lot of managers would do the job better.

“I don’t think I’m perfect but it’s difficult to find better options.

“If 99 percent of Liverpudlians think we’re going the right way then it’s okay.

“The good old times, domination for 20 years, will not come back either. Our job is to fight for every point.

“I’m not overly happy. I didn’t open immediately a bottle of champagne. There’s still a long way to go. But we could have more points. I’m calm and cool with all the things we’ve still to do.”
