Klopp: F*cking loss to Palace is killing me

Jurgen Klopp says that he can’t get Liverpool’s defeat to Crystal Palace out of his head.

Klopp has won six and drawn three of his ten games in charge, but says his personality dictates that it is the one defeat of his reign that most sticks in his mind.

That comes despite his side winning away at Chelsea and Manchester City during the early weeks of his reign, moving up six positions in the league.

“Sometimes I would really like to change my personality but I can’t forget this f**king loss against Crystal Palace,” Klopp said. “If we had won this, I would say it was okay.”

Liverpool travel to Southampton on Wednesday night aiming to reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup. Do so and they will be second favourites to win the competition behind Manchester City.

Klopp did admit that he was pleased with Liverpool’s initial progress under his guise, but warned against overloading the players with information as looks to imprint his style on their game.

“I think we’ve done not too bad until now,” Klopp said. “We give as much information as we could, as we should. With information, if I would say every day all the things I know, it is for sure too much.

“It’s timing, the right information is very important, of course. We don’t want that they have to take their papers on the pitch. It’s football.

“We have to play football. This word ‘playing’ is everything that you need. For this moment it’s okay – maybe we could have done better but we never will know this.

“We go on, we are not even at half of the way of the season, of our development. We all think we have a long time together and we have always to do the next step.”

From “outstanding” to “we’ve not done too bad”. There is certainly a change in the air at Anfield.
