Klopp: Mourinho not at fault for Salah’s Chelsea failure
Jurgen Klopp does not place the blame at Jose Mourinho’s feet for Mohamed Salah’s struggles at Chelsea.
Salah faces the Blues on Saturday for Liverpool, for whom he is scoring all the goals.
The Egyptian moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2014 but rarely featured, and left in summer 2016 for Roma after loan spells with the Italian club and Fiorentina.
Many believe Mourinho blocked Salah’s progression – and Eden Hazard hinted as such – but Klopp disagrees.
“He’s improved a lot for sure, physically,” he said.
“I saw him for the first time when he was at Basel. He was already quick!
“If he had played better at Chelsea we wouldn’t have him so I’m happy about the situation.
“Nobody is to blame for that, for sure not Mo.
“He was very young in a very strong team and he didn’t come through.
“That happens very often.
“A similar thing happened with Kevin de Bruyne who’s not too bad at City now.”
