Jurgen Klopp says that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can fit into “four positions” at Liverpool.
The Reds signed Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal on transfer deadline day for £35million.
The England international is thought to have grown disillusioned at playing as a wing-back for the Gunners, and rejected the chance to join Premier League champions Chelsea as they were offering a similar role.
The 24-year-old gave a vague response when discussing where he wanted to play at Liverpool in his first interview after joining, but Klopp offered more clarity on Friday.
“[He can play] a few positions,” he said. “He’s a very good football player, good in small spaces, good in big spaces, a good dribbler, a good passer.
“You want to have him on the pitch as often as possible, and he fits really well in different lineups.
“In the system we play in this moment he can play four positions: both No. 8s and both wingers.
“We play in a specific way and we want to use him in these positions.”
