Klopp reacts after PL votes against VAR introduction

Jurgen Klopp says VAR “needs to be fixed” after the Premier League voted against its use from next season.

The decision was made at a Premier League shareholders meeting in London on Friday, when all 20 member clubs voted.

The system, which is being trialled in this season’s FA Cup, will be further tested throughout the 2018/19 campaign.

Liverpool manager Klopp has been involved in one game this season, the FA Cup tie against West Brom, when VAR was in place.

“It was very interesting,” Klopp said. “It took time.

“In Germany it has settled. I’d prefer to have right decision, but it’s not perfect.

“It needs to be fixed.”

Klopp also suggested that VAR would not have helped clear up the controversy over the award of a penalty for Real Madrid in added time of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

“They’ve had been watching it for two hours before decided. It’s still difficult.

“VAR is there to help the ref, not make life more difficult.”
