Jurgen Klopp believes that Liverpool struggled in the last 20 minutes against Augsburg because they were so good for the previous 70 minutes.
The Reds beat their German opponents 1-0 at Anfield thank to an early James Milner penalty, helping them advance to the Europa League last 16.
Liverpool were dominant for large swathes of the game on Thursday evening, but were almost made to rue their profligacy in front of goal.
Augsburg grew into the game and almost scored a crucial away goal on a number of occasions, but the hosts held on to progress.
“After 70 minutes we were that good that we couldn’t see their plan and the free-kick was the biggest challenge up front for us,” Klopp explained post match.
“It was absolutely deserved. We were the better team, we created chances but we had one problem in that we didn’t use them.
“We couldn’t control the game in the last 20 minutes and it was hard, that is how it should be, but we are in the next round.
“After the game with a 1-0 I am completely fine as I know there are no injuries.”
