Ronald Koeman was quick to praise a “perfect” performance from Southampton after beating Chelsea, but demanded more of the same from his players.

Willian put Chelsea ahead at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but goals from Steven Davis, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle earned Saints a 3-1 win as they made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after only one in their opening six games.

“If we can show this against Chelsea we can show it much more,” Koeman told BBC Sport afterwards.

“We had a difficult start to the game but we came back and we made it 1-1 with a great goal. The difference was how we came out of the dressing room, pressed Chelsea and had fantastic movement.

“We totally deserve three points today.

“The whole team performance was perfect,” Koeman added.

“After 1-0 down we looked comfortable and of course to win against teams like Chelsea you need your best players on that high level.

“Sadio (Mane) was dangerous in his movements. It was impossible to have good defending against him.”

Jose Mourinho complained about Radamel Falcao being denied a penalty, even though Mane had a stronger claim.

It made little difference to Koeman.

“Maybe then it was 2-5 the final result, even with that,” the Dutchman said.
