Koeman: Some Everton players struggling with ‘attitude’
Ronald Koeman says that some Everton players are struggling with the attitude to his demands for pressing.
Koeman’s Everton lost 1-0 at Bournemouth last weekend, a result that tempered ambitions after a bright start to the season.
Ross Barkley is one player in particular that has struggled, regularly substituted or left on the bench. Koeman did not mention him by name, but Barkley fits Koeman’s quotes perfectly.
“For some players it’s difficult, if they are used to not pressing then it’s difficult for some players,” Koeman said.
“For some it’s a big problem because they don’t know what to do.”
“So some will change their attitude and you wait, and finally you make up your mind yes, and no.
“It’s a mental aspect not fitness. It is about attitude.”
Everton play Crystal Palace at Goodison on Friday evening, looking to temporarily go up into second place.
