Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has moved to downplay expectations for this season after a poor start to their Premier League campaign.
The Saints remain winless in their first three outings of the fledgling season, while they were knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers in a shock defeat to Midtjylland on Thursday.
Expectations had been high following a seventh-place finish last season, but Koeman has warned fans against hoping for too much from Southampton.
“People expect more but we have to be realistic with what happened and what we have lost in the last year,” he said.
“In the first season we changed a lot and after some weeks you improve and develop the players but now we have been playing more.
“We have time but it is not what I like. We have time to improve and have good training sessions and we need that.”
