Koscielny trains ahead of Arsenal’s Paris trip

Arsene Wenger had said that Laurent Koscielny was a “concern” after suffering a badly swollen eye against Southampton on Saturday, but the Frenchman trained on Monday morning.

Koscielny was excellent against the Saints, prompting extensive praise in our Winners and Losers column, and would have been a massive loss for the Gunners’ opening Champions League group game.

“He’s a concern. The eye is already very swollen and closed up,” said Wenger on Saturday, facing the prospect of throwing in Rob Holding in the absence of the injured Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.

Aaron Ramsey will miss the trip with a hamstring injury so Arsenal will have the same squad that faced Southampton. Will Olivier Giroud get the nod up front after the underwhelming performance of Lucas Perez on Saturday?
