Manchester City may eventually pay £55m for Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker, according to the Daily Telegraph.
There were suggestions that City were unwilling to go above £40m for Walker, but the reliable Matt Law says Pep Guardiola’s club are ‘on the verge of clinching the signing of Kyle Walker after making an increased bid to Tottenham Hotspur’.
He even claims that some sources say that the deal could be worth £55m with add-ons, which would presumably kick in if City won the Premier League or Champions League.
The current world record transfer fee for a defender is David Luiz, who joined PSG from Chelsea for £50m.
City are also said to be having talks with the representatives of Kylian Mbappe in an effort to lure him to Manchester.
