Lauren picks current star good enough for ‘Invincibles’

Arsenal ‘Invincible’ Lauren has picked one current player good enough to play in that legendary side.

Lauren was a key figure in the Gunners’ unbeaten run to the 2003/04 Premier League title, starting 34 games as Arsene Wenger’s side went through the season without suffering defeat in the league.

Only Robert Pires, Thierry Henry and Kolo Toure made more Premier League appearances for Arsenal in that historic season, with the Cameroonian joining Portsmouth two years later.

Speaking to Goal, Lauren has identified one current Arsenal player who would make it into the ‘Invincibles’ squad.

“Straight away I would say Alexis Sanchez,” Lauren said when asked if any current players were worthy of the standard.

“He’s the kind of player who gives 110 per cent in every single game.

“I think to achieve targets and success you need players like that. I like this type of player.

“You need charismatic figures within the Arsenal squad and he’s one of them.”
