Lennon compares Xhaka unfavourably to Charlie Adam
Granit Xhaka is similar to Charlie Adam and has not impressed at Euro 2016, according to Neil Lennon.
Xhaka was once again one of Switzerland’s most influential players at the tournament in the final Group A game against France on Sunday, which ended in a goalless draw.
The midfielder, who joined Arsenal in a £30m deal before the summer, was voted as man of the match in his country’s first two games, and has emerged as the top passer on the continent.
The 23-year-old has not impressed pundit and Hibernian manager Lennon however, who believes the former Borussia Monchengladbach star is similar to Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam.
“I’ve not been that impressed,” Lennon told BBC Radio 5 live. “He Xhaka is alright. He reminds me of Charlie Adam.”
This comes after the midfielder was told to “up his game” by compatriot Stephane Henchoz two weeks ago.
Xhaka is unlikely to be joined by too many new signings at the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of players, but Arsene Wenger said on Sunday that they would only sign “one or two more“.
