Daniel Levy jokingly congratulates Real Madrid every time they win a European title.
Tottenham chairman Levy has dealt with Real on a number of occasions, most notably during the sales of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
Modric moved to Spain from White Hart Lane for around £30million in 2012, while Bale became the world’s most expensive player when he headed for the Bernabeu 12 months later.
Levy, renowned as a difficult negotiator, has a friend in Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“He always goes for the top [amount],” Perez told Cadena Cope.
“We have become friends because of the time it took us to sign Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
“Every time we win a European title, he sends me the same message: ‘Congratulations for the European title you have won with my players.'”
