Gary Lineker has attacked Jurgen Klopp for fielding a reserve team after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Klopp was angry after his young team collapsed to a 2-1 home defeat at Anfield, but Lineker blames Liverpool’s manager for the cup exit.
It means that Liverpool’s only hope of a trophy this season is to somehow wrestle the title away from Chelsea.
‘Don’t get Klopp playing his reserves with no European football,’ Lineker tweeted.
‘Shows a lack of knowledge of the depth in English football and respect.
‘It’s not the only circus in town anymore but still special. Don’t understand why you would just chuck it away.
‘Those of us that were footballers still love the darn thing.’
When Lineker was told that it was because Liverpool would play Chelsea and Southampton in the midweeks before and after the tie, he responded: ‘So? You’re out of both competitions. That worth it?’
