Jesse Lingard has welcomed fresh competition from any new Manchester United signings.
Jose Mourinho has added three new names to his team so far this summer, with Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic joining his collection of giants.
But the manager also wants a new winger, and has thus far failed in his attempts to persuade Inter Milan to part with Ivan Perisic.
According to Sky Italia, the Croatian is now close to extending his deal with the club, bringing rumours of a move to Old Trafford to an end.
United will therefore source alternative targets, yet Lingard is not perturbed by the prospect of fresh competition.
“It is good,” Lingard said. “It is obviously more competition and it makes you work harder in training.
“So it’s all good. We’ve had a lot of players come in over the past few seasons, which is always good to help build the squad up and make it stronger.
“It’s always a massive honour to run out at Old Trafford or wherever we play for Man United.
“I am always going to work hard and keep my feet on the ground.”
