Liverpool have agreed a fee with Arsenal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the player rejected Chelsea earlier on Wednesday.

The Blues were thought to be favourites to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, after agreeing a £35million fee with the Gunners.

The 24-year-old rejected the move however, as he has no wish to continue playing as a wing-back.

Liverpool opened talks with Arsenal as a result, as a move for Thomas Lemar was proving difficult to negotiate.

It is believed that the Reds have agreed to pay £40m for the player, who will sign a six-year deal at Anfield.

He has always wanted to be Steven Gerrard, to be fair.
