Coutinho on his future: ‘I’m not finished yet’
Philippe Coutinho believes that he still has improvements to make, but that he has become a much better footballer and person since moving to England.
Coutinho joined Liverpool from Inter, where he had failed to establish himself as a key player. He is now subject to constant interest from Barcelona, who would pay more than £120m for his services.
Speaking to Goal after England faced Brazil on Tuesday, Coutinho says that he has never wanted to become complacent as a player.
“Every year, I’ve felt like I’ve taken more on and become better, more complete and mentally prepared – not only with football but life in general,” Coutinho said.
“I have never wanted to settle, because I know that improvement is something that doesn’t stop.
“There are always new things you can pick up and many ways to develop. I’m happy with how much I’ve grown, but I’m not finished yet.”
Watch out for that “never wanted to settle” line being taken out of context.
