Liverpool identify three priority positions for summer

Liverpool want a goalkeeper, a ‘No 6’ and a replacement for Philippe Coutinho this summer.

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, the Reds have identified the three areas they wish to improve upon in the next transfer window.

They will look to sign a goalkeeper despite Loris Karius’ recent upturn in form, as Simon Mignolet is likely to leave the club.

Their ‘preferred target’ will unsurprisingly be Roma shot-stopper Alisson – although a move could be complicated by the Serie A club’s demands after being practically robbed of Mohamed Salah last summer.

Joyce also reports that the club wants a new ‘No 6’, with Emre Can destined to depart Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the season. Their ‘first choice’ would be Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who is also a target for Manchester United. Saucy.

The ‘problem’ with pursuing the 26-year-old is indeed that many other clubs want him.

As for replacing Coutinho, Joyce makes no suggestion as to who the club may target.
