Liverpool have made contact with Nice about the availability of former Arsenal target Jean Michael Seri, according to The Guardian.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has conceded that they need midfielders before the closure of the transfer window at the end of the month.
They have been foiled in their protracted pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita and appear to have now turned to Seri.
Naby Keïta is an absolute dream of a midfielder. But if he's off the table, Jean Michaël Seri is the next best thing. Fantastic player.

According to The Guardian, Seri ‘has also been scouted by Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, who sent scouts to watch him in action in Friday’s home defeat against Troyes’.
They will have seen Seri create eight chances for his teammates in that 2-1 defeat. In contrast, Liverpool’s three-man midfield of Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum created only three chances in total.
Arsenal have retained an interest in Seri but will not spend again until they can trim their massive squad.
