Mignolet ‘positive’ despite competition from Karius
Simon Mignolet has welcomed competition for his No.1 spot and says Loris Karius’s arrival at Liverpool is “something positive”.
Karius arrived from Mainz in a £4.7million deal last month and immediately set his sights on usurping Mignolet as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice stopper.
But Belgium back-up keeper Mignolet is looking froward to the battle for the gloves at Anfield and believes the rivalry can help him improve.
“It’s something positive, it can only push you on and can only make you better,” said Mignolet.
“Competition for places you will always have at the highest level.
“For every place and every position there are enough people who can do the job when needed and that’s what you need to have a good team.”
