Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed that midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud has agreed a deal to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Liverpool have long been linked with a move for Dahoud, with Jurgen Klopp a known fan of the German.

The Reds made a reported £25m move for Dahoud last summer, and it was claimed that they would make a second bid in January.

But Klopp’s side appear to have missed out on his signing after Gladbach director Max Eberl confirmed Dahoud’s departure.

“A decision has been made,” he said. “Mahmoud Dahoud will be leaving us. He has chosen to join Borussia Dortmund.”

Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, added: “Mo Dahoud is a highly talented and exciting player in central midfield.

“We have been watching him extensively for several years.

“He has already demonstrated that he can play at the top level.”
