Liverpool reject third bid of £114m for Coutinho

Liverpool have rejected a third bid of €125million (£114m) for Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds have already knocked back two Barcelona bids of £72m and £90m from Barcelona for the Brazilian, and have completed the hat-trick on Friday.

Melissa Reddy, Goal.com’s Liverpool correspondent, broke the story, and Sky Sports soon followed with their sources.

It is thought that the offer could have risen to £118m with add-ons based on appearances, but Liverpool have rejected the bid out of hand.

The Reds are adamant that Coutinho, who has handed in a transfer request, is not for sale – even if Phil Thompson has already identified some mental replacements.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that the 25-year-old has told Jurgen Klopp he will not play another game for the club.

Liverpool are unmoved however, and will not entertain the thought of selling one of their best players.

Proof, were it needed, that ‘player power’ has been crushed this summer.
