Liverpool target Christian Pulisic has revealed his love for the English style of football, as well as Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
Pulisic broke into the Borussia Dortmund first team last season, making his senior bow for the club in January.
He played 12 games for the club in 2015/16, including just four starts.
But Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has handed the 18-year-old a larger role this campaign, with Pulisic already having played 11 games, starting eight.
The winger emerged as a Liverpool target in the summer, and although they failed to sign the American, it is believed the Reds will return for his signature this winter.
Speaking to MailOnline, Pulisic revealed his love for the English game, having spent a year in the country when he was just seven.
“It’s a big reason where I am today,” he said. “A lot of people don’t realise but it really brought on my passion for the game. After school every day, I was just out for hours in the park, playing with my schoolmates.
“That’s really where my love for the game started to come alive and that was a big part of my development.
“There were so many players that just showed so much skill and confidence in their games. I just loved the English style.”
Pulisic then revealed who his idol was as a youngster: Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
He said: “Wayne Rooney was my guy.”
