Liverpool’s signing of Naby Keita ‘looks increasingly difficult’ and Jurgen Klopp may have to turn their attentions elsewhere, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The tone of the latest coverage – after a second bid of £66m was dismissed by RB Leipzig – is one of resignation, with James Pearce writing that the German club’s ‘position appears so entrenched’ that there is no chance of a deal.
Liverpool are pondering a third bid of over £70m but must wonder whether there is anything to be gained from more public rejection.
Keita is said to be ‘desperate’ to move to Anfield but the German club are being firm in their stance and would remain so even if the player submitted a transfer request.
Various reports on the internet have claimed that Keita’s agents have been in Hong Kong for negotiations with Liverpool but those appear wide of the mark.
