Liverpool to resist West Ham interest in Sturridge – reports
Liverpool will avoid the temptation to sell Daniel Sturridge to West Ham in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The England international has started just four Premier League matches this season with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp preferring Roberto Firmino up front.
The Daily Mirror claims that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is determined to turn around the London club’s poor form and sees Sturridge as the answer to their problems.
It is understood that West Ham are prepared to pay big money to land the 27-year-old and could even try to tempt Liverpool with a short-term loan deal.
However, it is thought that Klopp is keen to hold onto Sturridge with Sadio Mane set to leave on African Cup of Nations duty in January.
Not only will the Senegalese international be absent, there is also a question mark as to how long Philippe Coutinho will be out after injuring his ankle and Danny Ings has been told he will miss the rest of the season.
Although there has been speculation that Sturridge is unhappy at Anfield due to the lack of appearances, the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker is likely to get his chance to impress over the next couple of months.
That leaves the Hammers with little chance of landing the player, although it is unlikely to stop them testing the waters.
