Lloris: Pogba ‘had something to prove’ against England

Hugo Lloris believes that Paul Pogba “had some things to prove” for France against England.

Pogba was perhaps the best player on the pitch on Tuesday as 10-man France beat England 3-2.

The 24-year-old helped Manchester United win two trophies and a Community Shield in his first season back at the club since joining for a world record £89.3million, but was still the subject of much criticism.

Many felt that the midfielder did not perform to his highest level regularly enough, but Tottenham keeper Lloris says he was “fantastic” on Tuesday.

“Maybe he had some things to prove because he belongs to one of the best clubs in the world and he plays in the Premier League, and he has to show his level,” he said.

“(On Tuesday) he was fantastic as a midfielder, he helped the team a lot to manage the ball.

“I have no doubt that he will get better and better.”
