Hugo Lloris refused to disclose whether he has tried to persuade Thomas Lemar to move to Tottenham.

Lemar has been linked with a move to north London in recent weeks, with the winger impressing for Monaco during their Ligue Un title victory.

He scored 14 goals and assisted a further 17 in 55 appearances for the French side, and attracted a number of potential suitors in the process.

The 21-year-old even scored twice against Tottenham in the Champions League, and reports have linked him with a £25million move.

Lemar earned his fifth France cap in the 3-2 victory over England on Tuesday, and Lloris was asked whether he has spoken with his international teammate about a move to the Premier League.

The Tottenham keeper grinned and said: “You are right to ask the question, but I cannot reply.”

He added: “The Premier League is very exciting. All the Premier League clubs have the capacity and the ability to bring the best players in the world.

“In France, we used to have a lot of talented players, and it’s true that the new generation are fantastic, but we need to give them time to get the right maturity.

“But as they showed, they are ready to compete at the best level. Let’s see what will happen in the Premier League.”
