Louis Saha believes Romelu Lukaku would flourish at Manchester United – and suggests the striker is still some way from his best.
Everton forward Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer, with a host of clubs including United and Chelsea reportedly interested in the Belgium international.
And Saha, who appeared for both clubs during a 13-year spell in the Premier League, insists the 22-year-old would be an ideal fit at Old Trafford.
“It’s clear that he’s among the players who are capable of going to play with the top clubs — whether it’s at Manchester United, who are definitely looking for a striker, or with a club in Spain,” he told Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
“All I hope is that he’s able to blossom and grows as a talent. At the moment, he’s still a talent and what we want for him is to confirm it so that he might become a really great player.”
Saha, who scored 42 goals in 124 appearances for United, also went on to tip the forward to star for Belgium at Euro 2016 this summer.
“He’s one of the players who could be key. He has the ability to weigh on defences with his physique and at the same time he’s very capable of scoring a lot of goals during the competition,” he said.
“The Belgian team really has what’s required to put any defence in danger. But in big competitions there are a lot of players and a lot of tactical systems to be overcome in order to win it.”
