Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez has reportedly chosen to join Arsenal this summer.
Eurosport France report that talks between Mahrez, Arsenal and Leicester are at an advanced stage.
Last week, Claudio Ranieri had claimed that Mahrez would not be leaving Leicester.
“It is over, the market is closed here. Mahrez wants to stay,” Ranieri said. That now looks like more hope than expectation.
According to the report, Arsenal have made an offer to Mahrez directly, which the player has accepted. Remember when tapping up was a thing?
The report also claims that the fee for Mahrez will be €50m, which seems about right for a PFA Player of the Year.
Mahrez’s signing would mean Arsenal can play a trio of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Mahrez behind a striker. It’s going to be Olivier Giroud, isn’t it?
