Mahrez: Tottenham collapse was funniest moment

Riyad Mahrez believes that Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in May was the “funniest moment” of last season.

Tottenham headed into the clash with their London rivals knowing that only a win would keep alive their slim hopes of beating Leicester to the Premier League title.

They took a two-goal lead against their bitter enemies, but Chelsea fought back to seal a 2-2 draw that crowned Leicester champions.

Mahrez, who watched the game at Jamie Vardy’s home along with other teammates, spoke of his delight at the moment in an interview with FourFourTwo.

“The funniest moment [of last season]? I think it was when Tottenham were 2-0 ahead of Chelsea,” he said.

“All the team were at Vardy’s house thinking ‘we’re probably not going to be champions tonight’.

“I was like, ‘What’s the point of coming?!’ and then 2-1, 2-2. It was funny.”
