Phil Jones is understood to have suffered a new setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

Manchester United defender Jones suffered knee ligament damage in August and was expected to be sidelined for a month.

However, the England international has had to have a knee brace fitted and his rehabilitation will now take longer than expected, according to The Sun.

Jones has failed to appear in a competitive match for United since January following a host of fitness problems.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from the club in the summer but Jose Mourinho reportedly blocked a move to Arsenal or Stoke.
