Manchester United are leading the race to sign Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, according to a report.
Seri was wanted by Barcelona last summer but the Catalan club failed to reach an agreement with Nice, much to the player’s annoyance.
PSG are also said to be keen on the Ivory Coast international but, according to The Mirror, Seri favours a switch to the Premier League, with United supposedly leading the chase.
United will be in the market for a central midfielder when Michael Carrick’s contract expires in the summer, with Seri available for £35million, which is the value of his release clause on a contract that currently has 18 months left to run.
The Mirror’s story credits Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea with an interest. Liverpool were said to be interested before the start of the season, while Pep Guardiola is in the market for back-up for Fernandinho, though the City boss is reported to be keen on a £35million deal for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazil international Fred.
