Sadio Mane has been crowned Premier League Player of the Month for August.

Liverpool forward Mane has scored in each of the club’s first three league games of the season as they have made an unbeaten start.

The Senegal international struck in the opening draw with Watford, with goals also coming in victories over Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Mane pipped teammate Mohamed Salah to the award – although the summer signing was named Liverpool’s Player of the Month instead.

Also in the running for the Premier League award was Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Phil Jones of Manchester United.

Two more summer arrivals, Jonas Lossl of Huddersfield and Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata, also missed out.

Mane is Liverpool’s first Player of the Month award winner since Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez weirdly shared the crown in March 2014.
