Maradona wants Kane to move; calls Chelsea ‘shameful’

Diego Maradona believes Napoli should sign Harry Kane, and that Antonio Conte’s move to Chelsea is “disgusting”.

Kane has scored 24 Premier League goals this season and looks on course to be crowned winner of the Golden Boot after finishing second to Sergio Aguero last campaign.

The striker looks likely to miss out on the Premier League title however, with Tottenham seven points behind Leicester with three games remaining.

Speaking to Italian TV channel Piuenne, Maradona believes Kane should move to Serie A side Napoli, with the Argentina legend tipping Gonzalo Higuain to leave the Italians.

“I think ‘Pipita’ [Higuain] has already done the best he can for Napoli and he’s not going to have another season like this one,” Maradona said.

“We saw it also with [Ezequiel] Lavezzi. They need new faces and they need to sell Higuain for as much money as possible. Instead of Higuain, I would go for Kane of Tottenham.

“The difference is Juventus knew how to resolve their problems while Napoli still haven’t worked out how to resolve theirs because when they needed to buy, they didn’t buy. Everybody knows this.

“I’m not friends with [Napoli director, Aurelio] De Laurentiis or any other boss. I just want what’s best for everybody, and everybody wanted more this year, but [coach Maurizio] Sarri didn’t have the players that [Juve coach Massimiliano] Allegri had. I think De Laurentiis is going to make money on Higuain.”

Maradona then turned his attentions to Chelsea, who announced recently that Italian national team head coach Conte would take over as manager following this summer’s European Championship.

“What happened is disgusting!” Maradona said. “The coach of the Italian national team who signs for Chelsea! That seems shameful to me.”
