Marco Amelia’s agent Federico Pastorello says that the goalkeeper has signed a contract with Chelsea.

Pastorello posted a picture of himself and the former AC Milan stopper at dinner “celebrating the contract with Chelsea”

“Dinner with @marcoamelia to celebrate the contract with Chelsea FC !!! Good luck !!” Pastorello posted.

The 33-year-old former Italy keeper went on trial with the champions last month and is now set to put pen to paper on a short-term contract to provide cover for Asmir Begovic.

Jose Mourinho revealed last month he was keen to get some competition for Begovic with first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois out of action until December with a knee problem.

“We need a goalkeeper now, not in January,” said Mourinho in September.

Amelia made 41 appearances for Milan over a four-year period before leaving the Serie A giants in the summer of 2014.

He then joined Perugia in Serie B, but was released at the end of the campaign and is yet to find a new club.
