McGowan misses Hungary trip

The midfielder is currently wearing a tag after being found guilty of assaulting a police officer in April and he has a 7pm curfew until next month.

He missed a midweek game against Celtic last season because of the conditions of his punishment but applied to have them relaxed temporarily.

Having been unsuccessful, manager Paul Hartley and his squad will travel to the Globall Football Park on the outskirts of Budapest this Sunday without him.
He will consequently work with the Dens Park club’s youth players but Hartley insists the situation will not affect the 27-year-old’s status in his squad.

Speaking on Thursday, the former Celtic and Hearts player told Sky Sports News HQ: “Looking at him yesterday and today, he’s the fittest player at the club.

“He’ll work all next week in here with the under-20s and I’m sure they will enjoy that also. I know what I get off Paul.

“It’s a shame that he can’t go but we knew the rules at the time. Once we come back, we know what condition he is going to be in.

“Paul is a fantastic trainer. He had the top marks at the bleep test yesterday and I know what he is like.”
