Memphis Depay has reacted with enthusiasm at the prospect of Jose Mourinho managing Manchester United.
Louis van Gaal was officially removed as United manager on Monday night, with former Barcelona protege Mourinho widely reported to replace him at Old Trafford.
Depay endured a difficult debut campaign under Van Gaal, scoring just six goals in 45 games across all competitions.
The Dutchman’s attitude has been called into question numerous times throughout the season, but many feel the 22-year-old winger can still be of worth to the club.
Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf over the potential appointment of Mourinho, Depay admitted that he found the prospect “interesting”.
“If the arrival of Mourinho becomes official, I’ll ask Wesley Sneijder what kind of man he is,” Depay said. “That’s interesting. It all sounds so, but it is not yet official.”
When pointed out to him that Sneijder, managed by Mourinho at Inter Milan, once said the Portuguese was the best coach he had ever worked under, Depay replied: “That’s a nice prospect.”
