Paul Merson cannot understand why Jurgen Klopp would leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich.
Klopp has emerged as one of the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Bayern manager after the Italian was sacked in midweek.
Merson dealt with the speculation in his typically incredulous manner, stating that he would not leave Liverpool for the chance to join the Bundesliga champions.
An Englishman paid to blow smoke up the arse of the Premier League is perhaps not able to place himself in the shoes of a German handed the possibility of managing his country’s greatest ever club, of course. But still.
“I wouldn’t leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If Liverpool can sort out their defence they will be big players in this league. That Bayern Munich team is aging. It is a million miles away from winning the Champions League now. They might win the German league but I wouldn’t leave Liverpool for that.”
Absolutely vintage Merson on Sky there. "Why would anyone leave Liverpool for Bayern? What's he gonna win, the German league? Whupde do."
