Middlesbrough v Derby preview

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has launched a desperate search for a goalkeeper ahead of the clash.
Jason Steele tore a stomach muscle during Saturday’s 5-2 defeat at Reading and has been ruled out for six to eight weeks, while Danny Coyne is still two to three weeks away from returning from a back injury.
Eighteen-year-old Connor Ripley made his senior debut as Steele’s replacement at the Madejski Stadium, but Mowbray has spent the last 48 hours or so engaged in an as yet fruitless quest to land an experienced loan signing.
Striker Scott McDonald missed the Reading game with a virus and will be assessed on Tuesday, while Julio Arca is likely to miss out once again with toe and knee problems.
Stephen McManus, Jonathan Franks and Luke Williams (all ankle ligaments), Andrew Davies, Matthew Bates and Justin Hoyte (all hamstring), Kevin Thomson (hairline leg fracture) and Willo Flood (knee) remain on the sidelines.
Tomasz Cywka will miss Derby’s trip to Middlesbrough.
The Polish forward is nursing a knee injury sustained during the closing stages of the goalless home draw against Barnsley on Saturday.
He was replaced by Ben Davies, who is likely to come into the team at the Riverside.
The versatile Miles Addison and forwards Alberto Bueno and Steven Davies are also available for recalls should manager Nigel Clough wish to make further changes.
Gareth Roberts played through the pain barrier on Saturday. The left-back was rated at 50/50 to face Barnsley due to a shin injury that had ruled him out of the previous two matches but managed the full 90 minutes. Clough must decide whether to risk Roberts again or bring in a replacement.
Fellow defenders Dean Leacock (illness) and Russell Anderson (hamstring and calf) remain sidelined along with midfielder James Bailey (groin). However, Leacock and Anderson have been given the all-clear to resume training.
