Alvaro Morata turned down the chance to join Manchester United as Chelsea “really wanted me”.
Morata became Chelsea’s club-record signing in the summer when he joined from Real Madrid for an initial £58million.
The Spaniard has failed to score in his last six games for the Blues during a spell out through injury, but did score ten goals in his first eight games in all competitions.
He will hope to rekindle his form against Manchester United on Sunday, a club he says he rejected in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
“Antonio, Michael [Emenalo], Marina [Granovskaia], all of them called me this summer and there was no chance I wasn’t coming to Chelsea,” he said.
“They demonstrated to me that they really wanted me.
“I had the chance to go to Manchester United and other teams in the Premier League.
“The important thing is I’m part of Chelsea and I’m very happy with this and now it’s time to fight for the blue shirt. I want to play well and win with this shirt.”
