Jose Mourinho has decided to ‘shelve a possible loan move’ for Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira.
According to The Sun, the Brazilian has been the subject of ‘several’ enquiries from interested clubs this summer.
Pereira spent last season on loan with La Liga side Granada, impressing with five goals in 37 appearances for the struggling Spanish side.
He has since discussed his prospects of breaking into the first team under Mourinho this season, and his manager now plans to keep him instead of loaning him out.
‘The United chief spoke to him on the tour of the US and said as things stand he wants him to be part of the first team squad,’ reads the report in The Sun.
‘That could change if he lands a new midfielder this summer – with Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier still on his list of targets.’
Pereira’s preference is to stay in Manchester if he is part of first-team plans, but if he is not afforded sufficient opportunities he would rather leave on loan.
