Mourinho admits ‘calculated’ Man United tracksuit decision

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he made a ‘calculated’ decision to wear a Manchester United tracksuit for last month’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Mourinho repeatedly pointed to the United badge to make the point that his loyalty now lies with the Old Trafford club despite two spells at Chelsea.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand in BT Sport documentary, Old Trafford Uncovered – with Jose Mourinho, he said:

“I come with the tracksuit, which normally I don’t do. I did it because it was Chelsea and I wanted to make clear I’m not Chelsea anymore.

“Chelsea is in my history, I’m in Chelsea’s history, I have huge respect for the fans, they gave me so much, but I’m not Chelsea any more.

“So I came with the tracksuit because it has the badge and I could show everyone my feelings.

“Yes, it was calculated beforehand. I did it because I wanted to finish with my connection to Chelsea. It was just about the history.

“”If one day I’m not at Manchester United and I move to another cub I will do exactly the same. Because it’s about being a super professional and that I am.”

Mourinho also suggested that he could be in management for another 15 years, bucking the trend for younger managers.

“If I finish my career tomorrow I should be very happy with my experience but the problem is my career just reached the halfway stage. I have 15 more years.”
