Jose Mourinho was unhappy after witnessing his Manchester United players celebrating a goal against Hull on Tuesday.
United beat Hull 2-0 in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Old Trafford, but were made to work for their ninth successive victory.
After a goalless first half, Juan Mata opened the scoring after 56 minutes, before Marouane Fellaini put the club within reach of Wembley with a late second.
Speaking after the game, manager Mourinho criticised his players for celebrating Mata’s opener.
“We needed to play,” he told Sky Sports. “In cup ties every goal can be crucial, so why celebrate when you have half an hour to play?
“I don’t think we should, there is no reason to celebrate the first goal.”
He added: “I think we were a bit sloppy.
“We complicated things, took one too many touches and delayed decisions, giving them time to regroup.”
