Jose Mourinho has explained why Zlatan Ibrahimovic was left out of Manchester United’s preseason tour.
Ibrahimovic was given extended rest, even though Sweden were knocked out of the group stages of Euro 2016.
Meanwhile, England’s Euro 2016 all took their place on the tour.
Mourinho explained that he watched Ibrahimovic for two hours before making the decision.
“The best suits are the suits by measure,” Mourinho said.
“That’s better than going to a shop and buying a suit that might fit you or might not.
“The players are the same – no two are the same. My decision with Zlatan is down to hours of study of him, with my coaches, even though he came out of the Euros before others.
“The mind and body must adapt.”
Mourinho also spoke about his preparation for United’s first game on tour, against Borussia Dortmund on Friday afternoon.
“We don’t analyse opponents at this moment of the season,” he said.
“We don’t worry about opponents or the result.
“Now we do our work and try to improve our qualities. At this moment, Dortmund is not important.”
You’re right, Jose. For now, only Paul Pogba is important.
