Mourinho impressed with Pogba, Herrera…and Rojo

Jose Mourinho has expressed his satisfaction at the recent improvement of Paul Pogba.

Pogba has endured a mixed return to Old Trafford after United signed him for a world-record £89.3million fee in the summer.

He has scored just two goals in 11 Premier League appearances, and has failed to regularly dominate games as many had hoped.

But manager Mourinho believes the Frenchman is beginning to adapt to his new club and teammates.

“He is adapting much better in relationships, to the intensity of the competition, and he is much more confident,” the Portuguese said after the 1-1 draw with Arsenal, from which you should read 16 Conclusions.

“Obviously he plays with some guidelines over his position but at the same time with some freedom to occupy some attacking areas where he feels and thinks he can be important. He is comfortable on the pitch. That is the best way of saying it.

“Midfield is playing very well. Pogba, Carrick, Herrera, they are playing very well. The defenders – the way Jones and Marcos performed was so solid and confident. We defended high and we were compact when we had to be. It is a very good performance. I go home with the feeling that I lost against Arsenal in the Premier League.”
