Mourinho tells Man United to go and get Kane – report

Daniel Storey

Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane, not Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho has ‘made it clear’ he would prefer to sign Kane to Ronaldo.

The manager has signed off on Ed Woodward making Tottenham a deal they cannot refuse, but John Richardson also writes that Mourinho still wants Alvaro Morata as well as Kane. That is ballsy.

Richardson believes that an offer of £100m would make Daniel Levy consider selling – we’re not convinced on that – but it is interesting that he says Mourinho wants Kane whatever the cost. We did try and tell you.

We did enjoy the following line from Richardson:

‘The ‘Special One’ believes a strike-force of the England international and Morata would enhance the Reds’ Premier League title ambitions more than Ronaldo’s arrival.’

Well yes, they would have two new strikers aged 23 and 24 rather than one aged 32.

What do we think? Not going to happen, but a good power play from United, if they are indeed going to make an offer.
